The backlink pyramid is actually a method used to create a high-quality, natural and layered backlink profile. This strategy increases the quality of links to your main website while minimizing the risk of artificial links that Google may penalize. In fact, it transfers high value from artificial to permanent and valuable sites and transfers this value to your site alone. Google really cares about the ranking.
1. What is a Backlink Pyramid?
The pyramid backlink consists of 3 main levels:
Tier 1 (Main Tier – Links Directly to Your Website)
Tier 2 (Middle Tier – Links Powering Tier 1)
Tier 3 (Bottom Tier – Links Powering Tier 2)
With this structure, instead of getting low-quality links directly to your main site, you can turn these links into a stronger structure.
2. Technical Stages
Stage 1: Tier 1 – Backlinks Directly to Your Website
This stage includes backlinks from high-quality, natural and authoritative sites.
Sources:
Guest Posting → Publishing articles on quality blogs and news sites
High Authority Web 2.0 Sites → Platforms such as Medium, WordPress, Blogger
Edu/Gov Backlinks → Links from university and government sites
Press Releases (PR Backlinks) → Articles published on news sites
Natural Methods (Organic Sharing, Influencer Links)
Dofollow links should be preferred because they transfer authority directly to your site, you should pay attention to this. Spam and low quality sites should be avoided because otherwise Google may penalize you for the website you have created.
Stage 2: Tier 2 – Backlinks Powering Tier 1
This stage is the backlinks used to increase the power of your Tier 1 links.
Sources:
PBN (Private Blog Network) Links → Links from blogs you created or purchased
Mid-Level Web 2.0 Sites → Platforms like Tumblr, Weebly, Strikingly
Forum Profiles & Comment Backlinks → Links from Niche forums and blog comments
Social Media Sharing and Bookmarking Sites → Sources like Reddit, Mix, Flipboard
Dofollow & Nofollow balance should be established (so that Google does not find it suspicious).
The links here should be given to Tier 1 backlinks, not directly to the main site.
Stage 3: Tier 3 – Backlinks Powering Tier 2
This stage is the lowest level, low authority backlinks that transfer SEO power to Tier 2.
Sources:
Automatic Backlink Tools (GSA, Scrapebox, SENuke)
Bulk Social Media & RSS Pinging Services
Wiki and Low Quality Forum Backlinks
Links used at this stage are not given directly to the main site, they only strengthen Tier 2.
There may be low quality links here, but excessive spam should not be done.
3. Extra Technical Tips
Anchor Text Variation → Instead of over-optimized keywords, brand name, URL, LSI keywords should be used.
Dofollow & Nofollow Balance → 70% Dofollow – 30% Nofollow ratio is usually ideal.
Slow and Natural Appearance → Instead of adding links suddenly, create them organically within 2-3 months.
Google Indexing Process → Use Google Search Console, Ping services and RSS to get new links indexed quickly.
Summary: SEO Pyramid Backlink Strategy
Tier 1 → Backlinks from high authority sites (Guest posts, authoritative news sites, Web 2.0)
Tier 2 → Backlinks supporting Tier 1 links (Forums, PBN, comment backlinks)
Tier 3 → Low quality links to Tier 2 (Automatic links, Wiki pages, RSS)
This strategy is compatible with Google algorithms, I shared with you a pyramid backlink method that will give your site a good score, especially in March and April. It also definitely allows you to create a natural backlink profile with a low spam risk.
If you want your website to receive organic traffic, it is a strategy you should create.
